Spiritual Transformation Part I
Is it really possible to experience spiritual transformation? Absolutely Yes! , but most folks would say no, because of the struggle to live the Christian lifestyle without conforming to this world. For some, you might have tried or join a program that promised change, and you did changed but it only lasted a few days or weeks or month, it was only temporary. You can have a lasting and fruitful transformation with God’s word rightly applied in your life
The first step towards spiritual transformation is to experience (3 steps process)
1.Spiritual Birth: Jesus gives you a new life when you accept Him in your heart by faith. You are now justify right in the sight of God = JUSTIFICATION
Romans 5:1 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
Spiritual birth also known as born again erases all of your past sins and wrongs, it provides you a clean slate for a fresh start with God
2. Spiritual Growth: Spiritual Growth is growing up in Christ and it is a progressive process.
It is the development of your spirit man (your inner man) the real you the part of you that is now born again. Growth is progressively attained
In spiritual growth, you become familiar with His Voice and God’s life become your life
John 3:3-8: 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit
The new life in Christ guarantees changes and the process is progressively transforming into the image of Christ. Spiritual growth = SANCTIFICATION.
Sanctification is the setting apart from ungodliness and setting apart for godly use = Godliness Godliness is living or operating God’s principles in human vessel
The old life does not work with the new blessing; therefore I must make a conscious, righteous commitment to live the new life in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17: 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
3. Spiritual Maturity:is having God's word as first priority and final authority in your life.
Hebrews 11: 23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command. 24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
“When he became of age” = the righteous conscious state of knowing you belong to God
“Refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter” = refusing to be identified with unrighteousness
What did Moses refused?
- The throne in Egypt
- Power to rule Egypt and beyond
- Prestige, having being raised in the palace
Maturity is "not having earthly things above spiritual things in your life; if you do you will not grow spiritually. the order is God first...then things are added to you
- My transformation will be perfected forever when I see Him face to face
- Spiritual maturity is living out what you have come to believe and know. This is the way God gets the glory. Maturity is about responding to different situations in your life and your choices in life match up with your new life in Jesus Christ
SPIRITUAL BIRTH + SPIRITUAL GROWTH = SPIRITUAL MATURITY
